Oh Beaut

Oh Beaut reached out to us to film a training video for their eyelash technicians company.

Oh Beaut 3

Project Brief

Beth came to us with a very clear idea of how she wanted the training video to convey clear instructions using high res footage and voice over audio for her clients to follow in order to recreate the desired outcome. Throughout the video, the use of close up shots and clear voice over audio in a calm informative fashion were imperative to give her clients the information they required.  Think Bob Ross doing eye lash tutorials in 2021.

The Process

Pre-production – The pre production process for this video was fairly straight forward. The video was filmed at Beth’s beauty salon using all her own equipment. Beth herself listed all the shots she needed in order to edit together the training video. Beth also arranged for a model to come in for the shoot and have her lashes done.

Shoot – On the day of the shoot we arrived at the beauty salon and setup the equipment leaving enough time to take some test footage before the model arrived. Sticking to the storyboard and shot list created by Beth, we began filming a series of one takes throughout the process. All the footage was filmed on the Sony A7r3 camera using a mixture of a 16-35mm lens and 35mm lens. The camera was mounted on a DJI Ronin Gimbal for smooth fluid B roll and a monfroto tripod for the vertical birds eye view shots. We rapped up filming and checked the footage to make sure we had all the shots listed on our shot list and storyboard.

Post Production – We edited the footage in Final Cut Pro. The footage was all shot in 4k 60fps for a high res outcome. The additional B roll footage was added in and around the vertical shots. The video was then graded using blown out whites to create a very clean looking tutorial. Several edits were then created for the client to look at and then choose the one she liked the best.
