Amber came to us with a rough idea of how she wanted the footage to reflect the service she provide at The Gift Girl. The vibe throughout the video is consistent with the message and ethos that The Gift Girl is trying to promote. Clean contemporary shot in a relaxed setting were all ideas that were thrown around quite frequently at the brainstorming session so with all that in mind we began the pre-production process.
Pre-production – We started by finding a location to film at and the appropriate props that would work within that setting . The location needed to be something that resembled a vibrant office. Flowers, lots of white and sunlight were all a must. We decided to film in Ambers apartment and set it up to look like a home office.
After visiting the location and taking some test footage we formed a storyboard and shot list adding in notes on what kind of props and setup would be needed to make it look an office setting. Due to layout of the apartment it was easy to move around some furniture and create an office type set.
Shoot – We filmed over the course of the day and shot mainly 4 different angles over multiple take with some B roll to add in at the editing stage. All the footage was filmed on a single rig consisting of a Sony A7r3 camera with a 35mm lens. The camera was mounted on a manfroto tripod for the stable static shots and filmed free hand for the B roll. We rapped up filming and checked the footage to make sure we had all the shots listed on our shot list and storyboard.
Post Production – We edited the footage we had obtained from the shoot in Cut Pro. We filmed in 4k 60fps to create a high res final result that would be used on Ambers website and social media. The additional B roll footage was added in the create another dimension of preception and create the illusion that multiple cameras were used simultaneously to film takes. The video was then colour graded with lifted blacks and blown out whites to give the video an airy clean vibe. Several edits were then created for the client to look at and then choose the one he liked the best.
